In Surgery Laser Whitening

Here at the Sunninghill Practice we have been whitening teeth since the practice opened in 1995, and have seen and used each new generation of products. Whitening is achieved by the controlled use of hydrogen peroxide, the effectiveness of which may or may not be activated by various light activating systems. The strongest concentration of peroxide that you can buy over the counter in any legal proprietry tooth whitening or bleaching product is currently 0.1%, and is unlikely to have any effect in such low concentrations.

What you should know

All whitening will eventually fade, and the time of fading can vary greatly. Assuming the procedure is carried out correctly and clinically, as it will be here at our practice, then anywhere between one and four years effect may be achieved. The way we recommend, and practice has shown achieves the best results, involves using both the in surgery laser technique, and the at home method. This way, you leave the surgery with whiter teeth, and then you can use the trays to either further enhance the whitening if you wish, or to top it up when there is any fading, avoiding the cost and time of another laser whitening procedure.
